12-15-14
Today in Human Geo, we reviewed for exams. We discussed how many questions were in each section, and how he scores it. He told us that it was worth 20 percent of our semester grade, which I already knew. He also gave us the option to do a rap that might get entered in the New York Times contest. Also if we do it we get 10 free points which is pretty good. I probably won't do it, but I probably should before this class drops, too.

Test Review
Today in Human Geo, we reviewed the test that I failed horribly on. I probably should've studied more but I can't really change it.

Test
Today in Human Geo, we took a test on different religions. However, a few questions were on slum dog millionaire. I noticed that the first few questions of the test were questions asked to Jamal on the game show in the movie Slum Dog Millionaire. Overall the test was apparently pretty hard, considering my grade wasn't too very good.

Religion
Today in Human Geo, we talked about numerous religions. Most of the religions obviously weren't mine.

Evacuation Drill
Today in Human Geo, we had an evacuation drill. After the evacuation drill was over we went inside and resumed taking notes. In the powerpoint he showed us some things that I already knew about, such as religious problems in the world. I also learned about a joke of a religion that was something about pasta. They made up a really dumb religion because that wanted the religious rights every other religion in the country gets.

12-3-14
Today in Human Geo, we took notes. The notes we took were on countries and their languages. I learned that Canada was a bilingual country. The two languages they speak are English and French. I do believe that the only part of Canada that speaks French is Quebec. Another thing we learned that i must admit did shock me a little was that America has never and still doesn't have a primary language. I always thought that the United States had English as their official language.

11-24-14
Today in Human Geo, we weren't in the classroom. Instead we went to the TV room and tried to finish the movie we started about the Slums. I really enjoyed the movie even though we haven't quite finished it yet.

Cultural Differences
Our culture and the people in the slums are completely different. They are treated horribly in the slums while were treated greatly. Even our poor people have it better than the people in the slums. The police, rather than protect them, chase after them and try to kill them. They're not very educated, and the teachers are very abusive.

Nothing
Today in human geo, we were supposed to do the spottily projects, which I already had done. So, I didn't have to do anything.

US National Anthem
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Quiz 3
Today in Human Geo, we took another quiz. I think I did ok on it, but nowhere close to perfect. I thought the essay part was the part I did the best on. I believe the question was somewhere along the lines of why it was unacceptable in our democracy to assassinate the president of the United States. Overall I think the quiz was ok.

Project 1
Today in Mr. Schicks Human Geography class, we picked partners for the new project that he assigned us. My partner was Jonathan Kaufman. I look at myself as a very lucky person to be with Jonathan for this project, mainly because of how smart he is. The country we got was the United States of America. I don't remember what the project was about, but ill figure it out I guess.

Going Over the Test
Today in Mr. Schicks Human Geography class, we went over the quiz and how we did on it. I got a 73%. Although it was not a very good score, I'm still passing his class. I could've scored higher if id studied how to use the CIA website, and the fact that I should've been more specific instead of saying a pull force was freedom in Canada. I also messed up some of the basic things, such as a few of the statistics that I should've gotten no problem. Overall it was my fault that I didn't at least get an 80 on this quiz. My goals for next time is to score an 80 or above.

Day of the Test
Today in Mr. Schicks Human Geography class, we took our second quiz of the year. I found it to be rather difficult, although some parts were extremely easy. I didn't know too much about how to use the CIA world fact book so I think I did pretty bad on that part overall.

Review for Quiz
Today in Human Geography, we reviewed for what I believe is a quiz that I also believe is on Friday. We went over the main vocabulary terms we will need to know for the quiz.

Today in class, we didn't do all that much. All we did was search things on cia.gov, also on the world fact book. We then shared statistics we discovered to the class.

Mr. Schicks Absence 1
Today in class, Mr. Schick was at a wedding in Maine. Some lady came in and watched us as she showed us a video. It was about the population pyramid in three different countries, Japan, Canada, and another country that I cannot remember. Most of the day we just sat here and looked at the things she told us to look at on the computer.

Test Review
In class today we went over how we did on our test. I got a 76% on it, and realized I made some pretty stupid mistakes I could've avoided.

Test
Today in class, we took a test. Overall, I don't think I did too bad. I don't think i failed it but I don't believe I aced it. Some of the writing response questions were pretty easy. On the multiple choice there were a few hard ones, but they were only hard because I didn't study. All in all, the test was alright.

9-13-14
Today in class we talked about globalization and americanization. Globalization is the process of international interrogation arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Americanization is the influence the United States has on the culture of other countries, such as their popular culture, cuisine, technology, business practices, or political techniques. Mr. Schick was getting aggravated in class because of the kids sitting in the corner talking all the time.

Technological Advancement
Today in class we talked about how much technology has advanced over the last century. Back in the late 80's, cell phones came out, but they were nowhere near as advanced as they are today. You had to hook some box up to your side and talk on the big old speaker. Music was another topic discussed. Back in the day you had to buy records and a record player to listen to music, now all you have to do is go to iTunes and download the music. The iPod is a lot smaller than a record player, but has a whole lot of download space on it.

Class Democracy
Today in class, we had a democracy. We voted wether to get assigned seats or to stay in the same seats that Mr. Schick assigned to us. A few people stood up in front of the classroom and debated their reasons as to why they believed we should or shouldn't pick assigned seats. To my surprise Mr. Schick actually let us pick our own seats when we won. I honestly thought he would psych us out and say sorry were still in these seats.

5 Point Action Plan
1. I will organize my stuff so that I can get to class on time, and not get confused as to what I need for each class, such as which binders and books I need for each class and that I have all the writing utensils needed for each class.
2. I need to attend school on time each day. Not showing up to school could make me fall behind, and then it will be really difficult to catch up.
3. I will show up on time for class. Not only can I fall behind by not showing up onetime for class, but it can also land me in a detention which I don't want.
4. Getting my work turned in on time is critical. It would make my grades drop and hurt my chances of getting farther in life.
5. Coming prepared to class will help me succeed in high school. Not having my books, binders, pens, or pencils will give me less ability to do my work.
